OMSI Forum develops and promotes the OMSI interface and concept

The Open Mobile Service Interface (OMSI) is a set of web service interfaces at, for example point-of-sales and service-point PCs. The idea is to solve the current problem with several different applications that may even need to execute on different PCs in order to perform service on mobile phones from different manufacturers. Also see the Slideshow presentation and the concept paper or review the specifications on the Download page.

PROPRIETARY SOLUTION
Several applications necessary to maintain and use.
  THE OMSI SOLUTION
Only one application where manufacturer plug-ins are handled transparently.

The costs savings in using OMSI is that you do not need to acquire, install and maintain several different applications. Only one application is needed, which cuts training costs and improves customer service when device management is moved closer to the consumers.

Using OMSI, any application vendor can provide an easy-to-use service application. Mobile phone manufacturers provide plug-in modules. Service users only have to maintain one service PC and learn one service application.

OMSI Demo Application
Further features like User Data Transfer, Diagnostics and Configurations are also available in the complete OMSI specification.

The OMSI initiative is promoted by Nokia and Sony Ericsson. A prototype has been implemented by Cybercom to test the concept, be used as a demo, and function as the foundation for pilot tests.
